Don’t Put Too Much Stock in Mock Drafts

Don’t Put Too Much Stock in Mock Drafts

Draft season is in full swing across every major sport. The NFL Draft wrapped up just weeks ago, and the NBA Draft is right around the corner. If there’s one lesson we should all take away from this time of year, it’s this:

Mock drafts are not gospel.

Across the sports world, dozens of analysts and insiders put out mock drafts. Many of them have solid connections — they talk to general managers, scouts, and front office personnel. They often get information faster than the average fan, and sometimes, they really do know what a team might be planning.

But that doesn’t mean you should treat their predictions as fact.

Just ask fans who followed this year’s NFL Draft. For months, Cam Ward was penciled in as the Titans' next quarterback. And Shedeur Sanders? He was projected as the second QB off the board in 90% of mock draftsyet he didn’t get picked until the fifth round.

So for all the NBA fans out there, here’s your reminder:
Don’t get too emotionally attached to what the experts are saying.

Your team might pick someone you've never heard of.
They might pass on a name you’ve been dreaming about for months.
And that’s okay.

Just watch the draft with an open mind, enjoy the chaos, and remember — the real draft board is often nothing like the one on your screen.

Your franchise’s future isn’t built by predictions.
It’s built by what happens when that name is actually called.
