The NHL playoffs are some of the most exciting sporting events to watch — no matter what kind of fan you are.
Looking at the current conference matchups, the series may appear a bit lopsided in terms of records. In the East, only one series sits at 3-2, while out West, every series is tightly contested, with all teams holding a 3-2 lead.
Does this make one conference stronger than the other? Are the Western matchups simply more balanced, or are the Eastern teams just more dominant overall? And when the Stanley Cup Finals arrive, will the battle-tested Western teams be worn down while the Eastern champion arrives well-rested and ready to roll?
As the teams go deeper in the playoffs we will see if rest or battle tested will win it all. Hockey is a battle no matter how long your series is. The East has some strong teams including the reigning Stanley cup champs the Florida Panthers. The west has Presidents Cup winners in the Winnipeg Jets and last year's runner up Edmonton Oilers.
The way I look at it, the playoffs bring out the best in every team. No team goes down without a fight. We love seeing big hits and big goals. We celebrate whoever lifts the trophy over their heads. No matter if it is the East or the West my eyes will be glued to the tv once the puck has been dropped.
The NHL playoffs are always a grueling test of endurance, depth, and momentum. But no matter who comes out of the East or the West, one thing’s for sure: the Stanley Cup Final will be a spectacle.
