Sports Card Roller Coaster: WHEN TO BUY & WHEN TO SELL!

Sports Card Roller Coaster: WHEN TO BUY & WHEN TO SELL!

For some reason once a player signs a massive contract during the offseason, that's where you will see a big spike in values and there's a high level of preseason excitement and that can be a phenomenal time to sell your cards at it's highest peak before they become just your ordinary player. A great example of that is Jordan Love who was probably the most popular name at card shows in 2024 prior to the season starting.

We studied the market value for Jordan Love from December 2023 until December 2024 and we have seen the Jordan Love Prizm Lazer PSA 10 card market go as low as $100 and as high as $350 in some time periods. It's a reminder that you have to do your research on players and the upcoming timetable of events that can occur.

December of 2023, Jordan Love finished out the season while sneaking into the Wild Card game. Fast forward a month later in January 2024 when they played the Cowboys in an electric performance from Jordan Love that sparked a lot of interest for collectors that maybe Jordan Love is the real deal Franchise QB of the future for the Packers and then his value jumped 100%-150% in sports card market. Once their season ended, his Prizm Lazer PSA 10's never really went down below $200 but they went as high as $350 when he signed a big contract but again, it's all about timing of upcoming events during the offseason with some of these athletes where you can really take advantage in the sports card flipping industry!

The 8 month stretch during the offseason was a hard time to find Jordan Love cards as everyone was buying and holding in hopes that his value would go up even more. However, Jordan Love got hurt in the beginning of the 2024 Season which was nothing serious but it just killed the hype train and collectors moved onto the new shiny toys of a new rookie class. So naturally, values started to go down even though he came back and has led the Packers back to the Playoffs. So now Loves cards are at a very low market value, do you take that risk of buying now and hoping he has a successful Playoff push?

If you look at the market value trend, you can see the off-season timeframes where the values were at it's highest price points between January-August. However, buckle up for a market value roller coaster from September until Holidays come to an end and Playoffs kick-off in January!

Ultimate Summary:

BUY IN DECEMBER!
SELL BEFORE SEPTEMBER!
