If your team is in a Game 7, you probably don’t think it’s the best phrase in sports — it’s pure stress. But to the average fan? Game Seven is heaven on earth.
This past Sunday, we were gifted with two Game 7 matchups. The first came in the NBA, where the Warriors faced the Rockets. Anticipation was high going in, but the game itself turned into a statement win for the veteran-led Warriors. It was close in the first half, but Golden State took control in the second and never looked back. Honestly, it would've felt strange not seeing Steph and LeBron make it past the first round.
The night’s true thriller came from the NHL — a showdown between the St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets. It was the hottest team vs. the top team in the league. The Jets needed this win to shake off the narrative that they can't close as a top seed.
The Blues jumped out to a commanding lead, and it looked like Winnipeg was about to fumble the bag... again. But with just seconds left, the Jets pulled off a miracle, tying the game at the buzzer to force overtime. Two grueling extra periods later, Winnipeg finally got one past Jordan Binnington’s wall of a performance to send the Jets into the next round against the Dallas Stars.
These two games had every fan on the edge of their seat. For Blues and Rockets fans, it was heartbreak — a tough end to seasons filled with promise. For Warriors and Jets fans, it was sweet relief. Survive and advance.
For everyone else? It was a reminder of why the playoffs are some of the best drama you’ll find anywhere on TV.
